Apple the smartest company in the world?

Posted by ryang

I went into the Apple store in Regent Street, London on Saturday and was shocked to see the queues outside the store waiting to get their hands on the iPhone 4. This wasn't 10 or 20 people but hundreds!

This must be the smartest company in the world to have that level of demand for a product that the press has been saying there is an issue with! The rest of the store was very busy and I managed to get a little bit of time with the iPad.

Have to say I...

So you now need a 2:1 degree to be even looked at.

Posted by ryang

So the latest statistics from the graduate recruitment people say that employers are filtering on 2:1 degrees as a minimum to even be considered for a job! Whilst that is bad in its self it also states that two thirds of all graduates receive a First of 2:1 degree. Is that the more startling statistic?

Is this evidence that the last 13 years have led to a dumbing down of tertiary education so that degrees are no more beneficial than good A-levels?

Are we really that bad??

Posted by ryang

So we play the Germans in the last 16 and we get beat 4-1, but the question is are we really that bad?

We have a coach that did really well to get us to the tournament and then just before it starts we renegotiate his contract for 4 more years irrespective of how ell he does!!!

Are we stupid!!

Isn't the where the problem is? In the past we used to do things based on results now we just pay the senior people lots of money based...

The Budget

Posted by Garve

Well there we go we all have to pay for the problems the greedy bankers caused, and they get away with it almost scott free, mind you all friends at Eton, looking after each other.

Sheriff of Nottingham chancellor, rob the poor to give to the rich, up to the same old Tory crap.

The last Tory lot, got rid of manufacturing industry just to break the unions, then Maggie had the Scottish oil revenue to pay the dole money, no such luxury now.

Ashes to Ashes Final Episode - Superb

Posted by ryang

Well one of the best programmes on British TV has now ended and what an ending. During the final season the stories have gone to the next level and been really engaging. I have found myself talking to my family and friends about each, which to me in this mult-channel world is a good sign.

This is the type of programme that the BBC really excels at and makes you proud of the unique way it is funded. Would a programme like this be made in a 100% commercial channel.

Coalition - Sharp Practice

Posted by grayguy

A vote of no confidence going against a ruling party will trigger a UK election.  Up until now, it needed 50% +1 vote to succeed.  So, the new bright and shiny coalition wants to change that to 55% of parliamentary votes.  What a stitch up!  There is only one grouping that can muster 55% and that's the ConDem coalition, and they aren't going to vote themselves out of power are they?  I really hope that this is not the start of 5 years of sharp practice....
